About the Edition

The revegetation of silver mine tailings at Elsa, Yukon, using Sudbury native grasses and agronomic grasses was undertaken and the use of fertilizer, lime, organic amendments, and maintenance were investigated. Deschampsia caespitosa was found to be the only suitable native grass and Poa pratensis and Agrostis gigantea were the best agronomic grasses. The tolerance of D. caespitosa to cadmium and zinc was studied and discussed.
